UCPN (Maoist) cadres attack NC leaders in Rolpa

Rolpa: Nepali Congress has voiced concern over the rising level of security threats to the party leaders and activists in Rolpa district in the run up to the Constituent Assembly election slated for November 19.



"The security challenges to our party leaders and cadres have increased," said Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar, the party´s district committee president. “Our party cadres are insecure due to the hostile cadres of the UCPN (Maoist) and the agitating CPN-Maoist," added Magar. [break]



He accused the UCPN (Maoist) cadres of imposing tyranny at the district.

“They [UCPN (Maoist] have attacked us as they fear losing election," Magar said.



Meanwhile, issuing a press statement, Nepali Congress (NC) party central office has condemned the incident.



“The attack over our party leaders Janak Kumar Batha and Dipak Kumar Shahi is a heinous act," reads the statement.

The party has warned the UCPN (Maoist) cadres to correct their behavior.



“The attacked leaders are going under treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu," the statement further stated.
