The differences among the parties should be narrowed before the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting is convened, Mahara said.As the ruling parties have agreed to postpone the CA meeting for a week, our party cut short a three-day general strike to create the favorable environment for consensus, he added. Mahara demanded that the government immediately release the party cadres arrested during the strike yesterday.
The favorable environment for consensus is being developed, Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dilendra Badu said.
The CA meeting was convened on Monday after a hiatus of nearly two months. The meeting lasted only for minutes as it didn't enter into business except for endorsing the motion to pay tributes to two former lawmakers -- Ramnath Dhakal of CPN-UML and Mahendra Yadav of Nepali Congress (NC), who passed away recently.
