KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Opposing the government's decision to mobilize Nepal Army in riot-hit regions, the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) has demanded for a political solution to the conflict in various parts of the country.

A standing committee meeting of the party, held at party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence at Lazimpat on Tuesday, also urged the major political parties to take initiatives for dialogue with various agitating groups. "Parties and government must seek political solution to Monday's Kailali incident," UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said. "Mobilizing the military can never be a solution and we oppose it."The party has also demanded that genuine concerns raised by Tharu communities be addressed by major political parties to bring the situation under control. UCPN (Maoist) has also decided to stand behind the genuine demands raised by indigenous Tharu community.

Concluding that the brutal attack against the police force was deliberate and a result of infiltration by outsiders, UCPN (Maoist) standing committee meeting has demanded independent investigation on the incident.

While denouncing the Kailali incident, the party leaders desisted from accusing any force for involvement on the incident.

The party has also urged the major political parties not to waver from the constitution-making process and get it promulgated without any delay.
