The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and the visiting Foreign Minister of UAE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyam in Singha Durbar on Thursday.
"The UAE will open a consulate office in 2010," said Rajan Bhattarai, the PM´s foreign affairs advisor.
Bhattarai also informed that four areas of possible UAE assistance were also identified during the meeting. The sectors specified are hydropower, infrastructure development, agriculture and tourism.
The UAE foreign minister sought Nepal´s support in setting up IREA´s (International Renewal Energy Agency) headquarters in UAE, Bhattarai added.
Nepal is a member of IREA, which is a 84-member states body.
The UAE minister also called on his Nepali counterpart Sujata Koirala on Thursday.
