KATHMANDU, Aug. 29: The United Arab Emirates has sent its first consignment of urgent humanitarian assistance to Nepal following devastating floods and landslides that killed hundreds and caused widespread destruction in Rasuwa and other affected areas.
UAE Ambassador to Nepal Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi expressed condolences to the families of those killed and sympathy to the government and people of Nepal, wishing those injured a speedy recovery. The aid arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a reaffirmation of the country's solidarity with Nepal during the crisis. "This assistance reflects the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Nepal," Al Nuaimi said, adding that the UAE remains committed to supporting Nepal during natural disasters and other emergencies.

He said the shipment represents the first phase of the UAE's humanitarian response, with additional consignments expected to follow to support relief efforts and meet the humanitarian needs of affected communities.
Al Nuaimi said the UAE's humanitarian approach is rooted in principles of human solidarity and compassion, with assistance provided without distinction based on religion, race, nationality or background. He also thanked the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE Aid Agency, including its chairman, Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Amiri, for their continued support and cooperation.
The ambassador expressed appreciation to the Nepal government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and relevant airport authorities, for facilitating the arrival of the humanitarian assistance.
The UAE's aid comes as Nepal continues rescue, recovery and relief operations following catastrophic flooding and landslides that devastated communities and damaged roads, bridges, hydropower projects and other critical infrastructure.
