Two of marriage party killed in accident

BARA, May 24: A truck and a van carrying members of a marriage party collided head-on at 14 Kilo of Bara Sunday night, killing two persons on the spot.



Five, including the bride and bridegroom, were injured in the accident.



The deceased are Yam Kanta Poudel (50), the father of the bridegroom, and van driver Binod Sunar of Chitwan, according to the District Police Office, Bara.



The injured are being treated in Narayani and Bharatpur hospitals.



The van (Ga 1 Cha 3741) and truck (Na 1 Kha 4363) crashed at 11 p.m.



Meanwhile, police seized three and half kg of hashish from a man and a woman at Jitpur this morning.



Acting on a tip-off, a team of police from Armed Police Force, Jitpur Base Camp, confiscated the contraband being carried in plastic pouches by tying them on the waist, the police said.



The arrested are Lalita Sah and Ram Balak Baitha. Their two accomplices, however, managed to flee.
