Two killed, five sustained injuries due to rain-triggered landslides in Bajura

BAJURA, Aug 2: Two persons belonging to the same family were killed and five others sustained injuries due to landslides at Gaumul rural municipality in Bajura on Thursday night.

BAJURA, Aug 2: Two persons belonging to the same family were killed and five others sustained injuries due to landslides at Gaumul rural municipality in Bajura on Thursday night.


The incident occurred when a house belonging to Jange Chadara located at Basala Shanti Tole collapsed due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall at around 12:30 am, according to District Police Office.

The deceased have been identified as Niruta Chadara, 30, and her six-year-old daughter Kishmita. Jange Chandara was critically injured in the incident. Suke Chadara, Jadeni Chadara, Ashmita Chadara and Bikash Chadara have also sustained minor injuries.


A team of police led by DSP Uddab Singh Bhat has reached the incident site to take the stock of the situation. Geologists have advised the local authorities to relocate other houses in the village as they are at high risk of a landslide at Shanti Tole.
