Two die as ultra light aircraft crashes in Pokhara

POKHARA, Oct 3: Two people were killed when an ultra light aircraft crashed at Pumdibhumdi VDC-1 near Pokhara in Kaski district on Thursday morning.



Two persons - pilot Stephen Shrestha and a Chinese national – died when a two-seater ultra light aircraft crashed at a parking lot near Shanti Stupa in Pumdibhumdi VDC-1, Kaski district, DSP Santosh Khadka of Kaski District Police Office told Republica. [break]

The dead bodies have been kept at the Charak Hospital for postmortem. The incident  occurred at 9:35 am today.



“It was slightly raining when the incident took place. In my speculation the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing after he noticed some technical glitches, however, the ultra light fell on to the ground,” said eyewitness Surya Bahadur BK.



Avia Club Nepal had started ultra light flight since 1997 AD.



Stephen was considered the first and the most experienced pilot in Nepal.
