Two die as truck veers off Trishuli

CHITWAN, June 17: Two persons died and one other was injured when a truck plunged into the Trishuli River on Thursday morning.



The accident took place when a Narayanghat-bound mini truck from Kathmandu (Na 2 Kha 5972) carrying chickens veered off some 100 feet from the highway nearby the Nagdi stream in Darechowk VDC-3 of Chitwan at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday, according to District Police Office.



The deceased have been identified as Saila, 30 of Naubise, Dhading and Kaviraj Gartaula, 20, of Jeevanpur, Dhading.



Truck driver Maniram Thapa, 26, of Jeevanpur-3, Dhading sustained serious injuries. He is undergoing treatment in Bharatpur Hospital, said Chitwan Police.



In yet another incident, a cyclist died in Kanchanpur when a motorbike from opposite direction hit his bicycle.



Jeet Bahadur Khadka,  of around 50 years of age, of Daiji VDC died when a motorbike (Ma 1 Pa 2003) en route to Mahendranagar bazaar from Dhangadhi knocked his bicycle, according to District Police Office, Kanchanpur.



Seriously injured in the incident were motorcyclist Sachitra Dagaura, Prakash Dagaura and Nishan Dagaura of Suda VDC. Mahakali Zonal Hospital referred the thee injured to Indian hospital for further treatment.



Injured Khadka died on the way to hospital, police informed.
