Two COVID-19 deaths reported in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, June 12: The throat swab samples of two individuals who died in Birgunj recently tested positive for the COVID-19 on Saturday.

A five years old child who was undergoing treatment at Birgunj Health Care Hospital and a youth found dead near Ghantaghar, Birgunj tested positive for the virus.

The child from Nijgadh Municipality-6, Bara was admitted to Birgunj Health Care Hospital on Friday morning. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment. His throat swab samples were collected for COVID-19 tests and his result was positive in both RDT and PCR tests.

According to Dr Uday Narayan Singh, manager of Narayani Temporary COVID Hospital, neither the boy nor his family has any recent travel or contact history.

Similarly, a youth in his early 20s was found dead near Ghantaghar, Birgunj on Wednesday. His throat swab sample was also collected for the test and his results too have come positive at Narayani Temporary COVID Hospital.

 With this, Nepal now has 18 cases of COVID-19 death.
