KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Two people have been arrested on charges of murdering a woman in Sundarijal, Gokarneshwar Municipality-1. They were arrested from Basundhara, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaraj Adhikari of the District Police Office, Kathmandu, said that those arrested are Rambinay Mahara, 40 and Santosh Ram Mahara, 24 from Sarlahi.
A woman's body was found in suspicious circumstances on Thursday, trapped between rocks in Sundarijal. According to the police, she was a laborer who made her living through daily work.
Police nab two for alleged involvement in Gauchan's murder
According to SP Adhikari, the deceased is Ram Dulari, originally from Siraha and residing in Basundhara, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3. Her family and relatives have not yet been in contact with the police.
During the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the reason for the murder could be related to a love affair. SP Adhikari stated that Rambinay, suspecting that the deceased Ram Dulari drank alcohol daily and had relationships with other men, conspired with Santosh to plan her murder.
Santosh is Rambinay's uncle. SP Adhikari stated that both of them took Ram Dulari to the crime scene and pushed her from a height, injuring her.
The police reported that while Ram Dulari was injured, both individuals took turns striking her on the head with a stone, leading to her death.
Further investigation is ongoing, according to the police personnel.
