Eliza Gurung, 9, of Hiletaksar, Lamjung, who has been living in Pokhara-12, was tortured by Sanchita Gurung and Sagar Gurung for three days since November 22. The two held her captive in their rented apartment and inflicted serious burn injuries by placing heated tridents and ladles against her body.
“The two took the girl to their rented quarters and inflicted injuries. We arrested the two after receiving a complaint,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Tulasi Adhikari. “They have been charged with attempted murder,” he added.
The duo has admitted to the police of taking the girl to the rented quarter to learn Tantrism. Police recovered a trident, ladle, bell, and a rudraksha necklace, among other things, from them.
“This is a serious crime,” Adhikari said. “People face penalties comparable to those under attempted murder for such crimes.”
The girl´s father Lil Prasad Gurung said the two acquaintances had asked him to send his daughter to stay with them for a few days as she had school holidays.
When he reached their rented apartment after his daughter didn´t arrive home even after three days, he found her unconscious with marks of trident and deep scars on her head, face and shoulders.
After filing a police complaint, the two were arrested from their rented quarters on Monday. Investigation into the incident is on, said police.
Eliza, a third grader at Nobel Adademy, is receiving treatment at Western Regional Hospital.
