LAHAN, Oct 2: A head constable and a constable of Armed Police Force (APF) have been arrested on charges of raping a 32-year-old woman near the Border Security Office (BSO) in Siraha Thursday evening.

The arrests were made after the woman filed a rape complaint against the two at District Police Office (DPO), according to Dil Bahadur Thapa, chief of the BSO.

Among those arrested and handed over to the DPO are head constable Krishna Raut and constable Nawaraj Giri. Both were posted at the Siraha BSO.

After the woman filed the complaint, medical tests were conducted on her and on the alleged men Thursday night. A report is awaited.

Meanwhile, Shyam Kumari Mahat, chief of women´s rights group WOREC, alleged that police intend to give a clean chit to the two by producing fake medical reports.
