KATHMANDU, March 8: Jimkhana and Muwathai’s Bipashi Tuladhar and The Physique Workshop’s Oliva Maharjan have won the fourth Inter-Club Women’s Squat Tournament in over 60 kg weight category and under 60 kg weight category respectively in Lalitpur on Thursday. 


In the last round matches played at the Labim Mall, Tuladhar lifted a total of 150 kg to win the over 60 kg weight category. 


The tournament organized by the Jasmine Fitness Spa and Idea Shop from Wednesday, the rule stating that ‘a player can choose the weight it wants to lift’ was introduced from the first round in this edition.

All the participating players got three chances each in four category matches. A player had to lift the weight at least two times in order to enter the last round. The player who carries the most weight won the tournament. 


Tuladhar lifted 130 kg in the first try, while she lifted 140 kg in the second. Likewise, The Work Station’s Uma Maharjan and Nepal Byayam Mandir’s Bidha Rai both carried 140 kg each and finished second and third respectively. 


In under 60 kg weight category, Oliva Maharjan lifted 125 kg weight category to finish first, while The Race Fitness’ Aruna Basnet and Ranipauwa Sports Club of Pokhara’s Jyoti Thapa stood second and third respectively. 


Olive lifted 120 kg in her first try, while she carried 125 kg in the second. Even though she carried 130 kg in the third round, she won the tournament as no other player in the category was able to lift more than 125 kg. 


Likewise, runner-up Basnet lifted 110 kg in the first try, while she carried 115 kg in the second. Thapa was unsuccessful to carry 90 kg in the first try, while she carried 90 kg in the second and 100 kg in the third to become third. 


The winners in both the categories took home a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the runner-up received Rs 30,000 each. Similarly, the third-placed players earned Rs 20,000 each.
