KATHMANDU, Mar 30: The examination of temporary teachers has been postponed indefinitely.
Issuing a press statement on Friday, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) informed that the examination of temporary teachers, who were staging a hunger strike demanding parmanent status for the last four days, has been postponed indefinitely.
"The required posts will not be fulfilled through this scheduled examination. Further, it will hamper the study of the students," reads the press statement.
Three student unions - CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union (NSU) and CPN (Maoist Center)-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNNISU-R) - protested in front of Maitighar Mandala and calling for an indefinite educational strike from Sunday if their demands are not fulfilled.
They demanded to postpone the TSC exams and urged to scrap the ninth amendment to the Education Act that provisions 75 per cent reservation for temporary teachers in the examinations of the Teachers Service Commission.
The examination was scheduled for next week Friday.
