UDAYAPUR, Nov 23: The roadway stretching from Triyuga Buspark to Gaighat is being upgraded within the next three months.
The upgradation of the four-lane roadway started some two years back and will be completed within the next three months, according to officials. The upgradation of the roadway, which started from November, 2017, was halted thrice.
The contract to upgrade the road was awarded to Surya Construction at an estimated cost of Rs 99.8 million. The deadline to complete the project has already been extended twice. According to Pashupati Gyawali, chief of Gaighat-Diktel Road Project, the construction company was out of contact on occasions, and the contract of the project was extended twice.

“After the local administration warned the construction company to take action for not upgrading the roadway on time, the latter asked to extend the deadline of the project to complete the remaining works after Dashain and Tihar festivals,” Gyawali said, adding that 80 percent of the upgradation work has already been completed.
“The roadway will be upgraded within the next three months. Nearly 80 percent work was completed by June, then the construction company went out of contact,” he said, adding that the local administration warned the company to blacklist the company.
Likewise, the blacktopping of the Udayapur Lokmarga at Gaighat market, too, has been started. The blacktopping of the two-kilometer long roadway is expected to complete within the next three months.
According to Lalijan Khanal, chief of Udayapur Lokmarga Project, the upgradation work is being expedited. The upgradation was delayed after the municipality proposed to make the road as wide as 25 meters. The Udayapur Lokmarga had planned to make the road 18-meter wide.
After the locals, municipality and Lokmarga project agreed to widen the road to 20 meters, the upgradation has started. For the upgradation, the infrastructures along the roadway are being demolished. The upgradation will start after the houses and other infrastructures are demolished.
