NAWALPARASI, May 13: The Triveni transit point along the Nepal – India border has been sealed off from this morning as part of a wider security measure for the local level polls.
Nawalparasi's Triveni border point was closed at 7 am, 24 hours before the commencement of the local polls, Chief District Officer (CDO), Udaya Bahadur Rana confirmed.
The decision to seal off the border point was taken after an agreement was held during a bilateral meeting in Bihar, India between the representatives of the security organs of the two countries, according to the local administration.
Elections will be held in Nawalparasi's Province no 4 in the first phase of the local polls. The Triveni point along Province no 4 has been sealed.
2000 security personnel to be deployed in Nawalparasi
In order to hold the local polls in a fearless environment, 2000 security personnel including 475 Nepal Army soldiers will be mobilized in Nawalparasi.
Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and temporary police personnel will be deployed in Province no 4 for the first phase of the local polls. RSS
