With the beauty industry being one that is always growing, there are always new products and trends that people will obsess over, and will flood everyone’s newsfeeds on social media. Here are five beauty trends that have been quite the rage in the recent days.
Weird facemasks
It isn’t a surprise as to why masking was the most searched beauty trend on Google in 2017. With masks such as the famous black peel-off mask, charcoal masks, turmeric masks, K-beauty sheet masks, etc, there’s a mask for every skin issue. Not only this, but there are also masks that are body part specific like masks for the lips and eyes. You can also spot celebrities on social media posting pictures in a sheet mask, such as Emma Stone in her Korean lip mask, or Kim Kardashian in her avocado face mask.
Trends of 2017
Glitter everywhere
Glitter lips, glitter nails, glitter hair, glitter everywhere. Inspirations such as model Cara Delevinge have been rocking glitter brows, @thegaybeards on Instagram have slathered their beards in glitters of pride colors and, then of course, there’s the famous glitter lips trend that has been a huge hit on Instagram and has been adopted by almost every makeup artist out there.
Stamp on makeup
Everyone is lazy once in a while when it comes to putting on makeup. “I wish putting on eyeliner wasn’t so hard” or “I wish filling in my brows didn’t take so long” are two of the many thoughts we have all had. However, recently, stamp on makeup has been introduced to the world, with the mission of making makeup application easier for those who are lazy. Thus, nowadays, stamp on eyeliner, stamp on brows, stamp on nail art, etc are all popular options for those who want quicker makeup applications.
Blush rush
The Ancient Greeks crushed strawberries, mulberries, red amaranth, and beets and patted them on their cheeks. The British pinched their cheeks to fake the natural flush everyone longs for, and the blue-blooded lasses of France blobbed rouge. But blush sort of got lost amongst newer makeup trends such as harsh contouring and dramatic eyebrows. However, recently as people have been opting for fresher, more natural looks, the blush is back.
Highlighter overload
The most popular makeup trend in town these days is undoubtedly the highlighter. With different brands coming up with different shades of highlighter including pink and green, wearing highlighter has become the new norm in the makeup industry, and you will rarely hear of people who do not opt to wear it. However, people don’t just highlight their cheeks these days, they highlight other unexpected body parts too. Ears, nose, and collarbones are just the start – almost every body part has become a highlighting possibility.
