Trekking route covering conflict-hit area opened

MYAGDI(Babiyachaur), Oct. 12: A new trekking route has been opened covering the rural conflict-affected villages in Myagdi, Baglung, Rukum and Rolpa districts.



The new trekking route is named "Guerilla Trekking Route" and the route was opened under the initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) and the District Development Committee, Rukum.



The objective of opening the new trekking route was to improve the living standards of the people of conflict-hit areas with the promotion of local tourism, according to senior officer at the Nepal Tourism Board Jitendra Bhattarai.



The route originates from Darbang, a trade hub of west Myagdi and ends at Sulichaur in Rolpa via the Dhorpatan area and Rukum.It takes 27 days in the maximum and 14 days in minimum to complete the trekking route. Scenic views of peaks, jungles, rivers, flora and fauna, rural areas, wildlife and birds are the attraction of the trekking route.
