The federation called the indefinite transport strike since Saturday after "Kankrebihar Transport Entrepreneurs´ Committee introduced old vehicles and violated the existing rules and regulations".
Strike supporters vandalised a few vehicles on Sunday for defying the strike. On Sunday night, tyres of around a dozen vehicles coming from Nepalgunj and Salli Bazaar were deflated by agitating transport workers.
The federation has warned that the strike will continue unless the local administration settled the dispute over route permit between Madhya Paschim Transport and Kankrebihar Transport.
Kankrebhiar Transport has expressed concern over the federation´s claim that its vehicles are old and it has violated the rules.
Meanwhile, a flood in Bheri River on Sunday has created problems for more than 2,000 locals of Bajedichaur and Rakam of Surkhet and Devsthal VDC of Salyan after it swept away a tuin (ropeway) over the river.
Likewise, farmers of Gajuri in Dhading district disrupted the Prithvi Highway Sunday morning after they could not get chemical fertilizers.
The farmers disrupted the highway demanding supply of fertilizers on time. They resorted to the move after they could not find enough fertilizers at Agriculture Input Corporation and local markets. Around 20,000 tonnes of chemical fertilizers will be needed in Dhading district for this season’s maize crop.
Local Administration and District Agricultural Development Office were making efforts to end the blockade.
