KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Transaction worth 5 million of garland has been done in the festive season of Tihar in Janakpur.
According to Surendra Bhandari, Chairman of Ram-Janaki Mali, import of 5 million worth garland has been sold in Tihar. In the last Tihar, 4.5 million of transaction was done, while the demand increased for this Tihar.
10 percent hike in garland price during Tihar
According to flower salespersons, 2.5 million worth garland was alone sold in Kaag Tihar and Kukur Tihar. The number of peasant in the business has significantly increased this year in Dhanusa, and the increase in demand increased the import of Flowers, said Ramnarayan Mali, a local sales person in Janaki Mandir.
Mali added, " Flowers were imported from Patna, Silgudi, Calcutta of India as the flowers are of identical shapes and the buyers prefer that". He further said, flowers imported from India is cheaper than the ones in Nepal.
Daily, 20 thousand to 25 thousand Nrs worth flowers are being sold in Janaki Mandir, Ram Mandir, Rajdevi Mandir, and in other temple of Dhanusa, flower entrepreneur, Ganesh Mali said.
