JANAKPURDHAM, July 16: The Janakpur-Jayanagar train service, which previously covered a distance of 34 km from Janakpurdham to Jayanagar, is now being extended, providing an additional 17 km of connectivity. This expansion will enable the train to reach from Jayanagar in India to Bhangha in Mahottari via Kurtha in Janakpurdham, starting from today.
Niranjan Jha, the general manager of Nepal Railway Company, announced the significant extension, boosting transportation and connectivity in the region. The expansion project has been completed, and the train service will now operate from Kurtha in Janakpurdham to Bijalpura in Mahottari.

The commencement of this extended route will be inaugurated by Prakash Jwala, the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, during his visit to Janakpur. This development marks a milestone in the efforts to improve railway connectivity and enhance transportation options for the people in the region.
Previously, the railway service only operated from Janakpurdham to Kurtha, covering approximately 35 km. However, with the extension to Bijalpura, the train's operational time has been adjusted to accommodate the new route.
The updated train schedule will see the service opening from Bijalpura in Mahottari to Jayanagar, starting at 7:30 AM. In the evening, the train will depart from Janakpurdham, passing through Jayanagar, en route to Bijalpura. It's noteworthy that the earlier narrow gauge railway service was limited only till Bijalpura, but now the expanded route promises improved connectivity and convenience for passengers.
