KATHMANDU, Jan 22: As the Puspha Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal led-faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) staged a mass gathering in the capital, vehicular movement in central Kathmandu was largely disrupted on Friday.

Earlier this morning, cadres of the Dahal-Nepal faction took to the streets demanding reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR).

In view of managing the crowd, a large number of traffic police and security personnel have been deployed in the Kathmandu Valley.

As per the latest information from Metropolitan Traffic Police, heavy and public vehicles have been barred from entering the Ring Road in the Valley from Tinkune, Gaushala, Narayangopal Chowk, Gongabu, Balaju, Kalanki, Balkhu and Sathdobato. Likewise, the traffic police have created diversions for vehicles plying in Putalisadak Area, Kamaladi Area, Mahendra Salik Area, Tripureshwor, Singha Durbar Area and Ratnapark Area in the view of controlling the crowd and managing traffic.

Ratnapark, Sundhara and Bhrikutimandap area in Kathmandu have been emptied as cadres close to the Dahal-Nepal faction are marching toward Bhrikutimandap and Ratnapark from various parts of the Kathmandu Valley. The faction has claimed to bring in more than 100,000 cadres in today’s demonstration.

People's normal life in the valley has been largely hit. Right from the morning, people were compelled to wait for hours in traffic jams especially the office-goers.
