Earlier, students belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist and Leninist)-affiliated All Nepal National Free Students´ Union (ANNFSU) at Trichandra College had blocked traffic movement along Ghantaghar-Ratnapark section of the road, protesting against the killing of a Youth Force leader in Butwal.
A cadre of the CPN-UML´s youth wing Prachanda Thaiba was allegedly killed by activists of ruling Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) on Thursday night. The road obstruction has thrown vehicular movement in Ratnapark, Jamal, and Durbarmarg, among other places in the capital, out of gear. Agitating UML cadres have taken to the streets in Butwal and other parts of Lumbini zone since early morning Friday to protest the killing. Local administration has clamped indefinite curfew in Butwal municipality to prevent any untoward incident.
Youth Force has accused the Maoist youth wing -- YCL -- of murdering Thaiba, a charge the organization has denied. Traffic in three of Rupandehi´s neighboring districts -- Kapilvastu, Nawalaparai and Palpa -- has been affected as well.
