KATHMANDU, April 27: Action has been taken against 15 vehicles emitting smoke more than the permissible limit in Kathmandu Valley.
The Department of Environment and the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office have taken action against the drivers of vehicles emitting more smoke than permitted.

The spokesperson for the Valley Traffic Police Office and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta informed Republica that the drivers of 15 vehicles, including seven public buses, five microbuses, two pickup vans and a truck, which emitted more smoke than the standard level during the pollution check conducted at Babarmahal in Kathmandu, were arrested.
According to him, a joint team of the two agencies found 15 vehicles emitting smoke beyond the standard while checking 25 vehicles, and took action.
The drivers of the vehicles involved in the action will be returned their seized documents after paying the prescribed fine. Authorities say that the number of vehicles emitting smoke beyond the permissible limit has increased in the Valley in recent times, so the pollution level of such vehicles is being checked.
