Traffic police seize 52 bikes for making loud noise

Police have seized 52 motorcycles from various locations within five days.

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Police have seized 52 motorcycles from various locations within five days. The traffic police have launched a campaign, which began last Wednesday in collaboration with the Department of Environment in the Kathmandu Valley to take action against motorcycles that produce excessive noise and/or are modified.


According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 12 motorcycles were seized on Monday alone. Motorcycles including those with holes drilled in the silencer, removed silencers, changed silencers, and those producing loud noises by removing the DB killer, have been impounded.

 The seized motorcycles include 16 Bullets, 13 Crossfires, 7 R15s, 6 KTM Dukes, 2 Benellis and 8 others. The seized motorcycles are being tested by the Department of Environment.


According to Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, those who have modified their bikes will be sent to the Transport Management Office in Satungal for necessary action and others will be fined according to the Vehicle and Traffic Management Act 2049.
