For the time being, arrangements have been made for passenger vehicles, cargo trucks and two-wheelers traveling between Koteshwar and Satdobato to use the service lane while small four-wheelers have been instructed to use the fast track. But this arrangement too has not helped ease the traffic congestion.

This flyover is one of the three structures to be built along the Ring Road section between Koteshwar and Kalanki where massive traffic jams occur. The goal is to complete the flyover construction at Gwarko Chowk in Lalitpur within 14 months.

Flyovers are to be  constructed in three congested areas between Koteshwar and Kalanki under the Ring Road expansion project. As per the plan, the first flyover is being constructed at Gwarko Chowk. The six-meter high flyover will be constructed as per the international standards. The total length of the flyover will be 455 meters and the ground clearance will be six meters.

Gwarko is one of the many areas within the Kathmandu Valley which is prone to traffic jams.
