The flyover includes the construction of a 35-meter span, four-lane precast girder bridge, along with approach roads and blacktopping. Traffic lights will also be installed on the flyover.
During the inspection, Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma said that some technical issues had been identified during construction but have already been resolved. Similarly, Director General of the Department of Roads (DoR), Ram Hari Pokharel, stated that the Gwarko flyover is considered important for managing traffic in the capital and is being prioritized for timely completion.
According to Deep Barahi, DoR-Quality Research and Development Centre, the main physical infrastructure work of the flyover has been completed, and blacktopping is currently underway in the required sections. The construction is being carried out by Ashish-Samanantar-Religare JV, Kathmandu.
The flyover, whose construction began with a budget of Rs 176.88 million, was originally scheduled to be completed by February 23, 2024 as per the initial contract agreement. However, since it was not completed within the deadline, the construction period was extended.
