During the aerial search and rescue operation on Friday and Saturday, the young senior captain (pilot) Bibek Khadka from Altitude Air reported that they received information from a fellow tourist that Onrej had fallen into a crevice more than 30 meters deep in the high mountainous region, where a sleeping bag was spotted.

Pilot Khadka said, “Although we attempted aerial search and rescue operations with the helicopter over the skies above Kyangin all day on Friday, we had to return to the capital due to adverse weather conditions. The sleeping bag was spotted during the attempt on Saturday morning.”

Similarly, German citizen Roward George Newvar, 43, who got injured on his foot and was stranded midway during his journey to Gosainkunda, has been airlifted. He was rescued by an Altitude Air helicopter from Lauribinayak.

The air service has reported that the tourist is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Sorakhutte.
