TURGAN President Thaneshwor Devkota stated that they took action against tour guides who either did not have permits or failed to renew their permits. He mentioned that one tour guide operating without a permit was arrested and handed over to the police.

TURGAN, in collaboration with the Tourist Police, has been inspecting unauthorized tour guides at various times in areas like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Patan, Bhaktapur and the Basantapur Durbar Square in the Kathmandu Valley.

During these inspections, the team detained tour guides for up to two hours and warned guides without permits or those who have not renewed their licenses.

Currently, a total of 4,990 individuals across the country have obtained tourist guide permits. Since tourist guides serve as ambassadors to convey a positive message about Nepal to foreign visitors, TURGAN has requested all guides to conduct their business in a disciplined and respectful manner.
