Some Rs 200,000 has been allocated for conducting a feasibility study for constructing an airport in the district, said Bhushan Rajlawat, the president of the chamber. “Additional sum will also be spent for setting up a Tourism Information Center,” he said.

The chamber has also set aside additional money for constructing a Souvenir House for promoting local handicraft and other items. The Souvenir House will not only conduct direct sales, but also work to publicize and inform tourists about the goods produced in Palpa.

The money will be used for cleaning Tansen Bazaar regularly, said Rajlawat at a press meet Friday.

The chamber made such announcements keeping in mind the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011, in which the government and private entrepreneurs have targeted to bring in one million tourists to the country. Palpa has been listed as one of the ´must visit´ districts for tourists during NTY 2011.
