KATHMANDU, June 15: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has deferred Air Arabia’s request to operate a special charter flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nepal citing overpricing of tickets.

The airline had sought permission to operate flights from the UAE to Nepal for US dollar 500 but the ministry stated that the ticket price is expensive as compared to the price set by Nepali international airlines. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has set $360 as the airfare for the sector and Himalayan Airlines is charging only $385 as airfare to the passengers wanting to travel from the UAE to Nepal. As compared to the prices set by the Nepli airline operators, the ticket cost is higher.
