Omprakash Pandey, president of Nepal Association of Tour and Travels Agents (NATTA), Pokhara Chapter, said the main objective behind organizing promotional campaigns was to disseminate message that Nepal is a safe place to travel.
NATTA Pokhara Chapter is starting promotional campaign in Indian cities from June-end.
“We have requested Indian tour operators to help us hold meeting with tour operators in the Indian cities,” Pandey added.
NATAA Pokhara Chapter has already held promotional campaigns in Varanasi, Kolkata, Darjeeling and Sikkim.
Similarly, the Western Regional Chapter of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) is also embarking on a promotional tour to different Indian cities. Biplav Paudel, chairman of the association, told Republica that the tour will start from the last week of June.
“We plan to visit Lucknow, Dehradun and Nainitaal. We are hopeful that the campaign would help raise arrivals from the southern neighbor to Nepal,” he added.
Indian tour operators say drop in the flow of Indian tourists to Nepal was because of the lack of effective promotion. Anurup Pandey, a Gorakhpur-based tour operator, said arrivals from India to Pokhara would increase if effective promotional campaigns are carried out in neighboring Indian cities.
