KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Department of Tourism (DoT) has asked world record-breaking mountaineer Nirmal Purja to provide an explanation for 'skydiving' in the Mount Everest region without permission.

According to an official of the DoT, Purja has been asked to furnish an explanation because he has been 'skydiving' within the Mount Everest region without getting prior permission. The official stated that Purja did not engage in any prior coordination with the DoT before ‘skydiving’.

Renowned mountaineer Purja has initiated his sky-diving venture as "Skydive Nims Dai" in the Mount Everest region.

Having climbed all 14 mountains of the world higher than 8000 meters in six months and six days, Purja formally started skydiving to further elevate his ambitions.

Elite Expedition claims to have obtained all required permits for skydiving operations

Meanwhile, Elite Exped, the mountaineering company of Nirmal Purja, has dismissed allegations that it conducted skydiving operations without obtaining permits.

The company has claimed that it has completed all the required processes for skydiving operations.

Ajis Pokharel, the corporate director of the company, stated that they conducted skydiving with permission from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.

He explained, "According to the regulations, permission must be obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Sagarmatha National Park. We have followed the protocol and conducted operations with the necessary permissions.” The company has provided all the permission documents to Republica.

Purja initiated his skydiving venture under the name "Skydive Nimsdai" in the Mount Everest region. After climbing all 14 mountains in the world higher than 8000 meters in just six months and six days, he formally started skydiving to further elevate his ambitions.
