KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Top three leaders of the Raj Kishore Yadav-led Madhesi Peoples’s Rights Forum-Republic (MPRF-R) have tendered resignation from the party on Saturday.

Co-Chairman BP Yadav, Vice-Chairman Sitaram Agrawal and General Secretary Ekwal Ahmed quit the party and are set to join Terai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP).[break]

Yadav, who is also a former Constituent Assembly (CA) member, had automatically lost his CA membership as per Section 33 of Corruption Prevention Act, 2002 after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed corruption cases against him at the Special Court on May 11, 2011.

Yadav was arrested on April 19, 2011 in the charge of misusing the diplomatic passports they got as CA member.

Talking to Republica, leader Ahmed said, “We are set to join Mahanth Thakur-led Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party amidst a party function tomorrow (Sunday).”

He added that they are joining the TMDP as its chief Thakur is an ‘honest and heroic’ leader of Madhes and his political career is also clean.

He accused MPRF-R leadership of being autocratic. “MPRF-R is now only with its Chairman Yadav and Raj Lal Yadav,” he said, claiming that Raj Lal Yadav was all set to join Upendra Yadav-led MPRF-N.

He further accused MPRF-R Chairman Yadav of being engaged in fulfilling personal ambitions.
