KATHMANDU, Dec 15: A scheduled meeting of the top leaders of Nepali Congress, UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-UML has been put off after NC President Girija Prasad Koirala asked the NC task force members to finalize the draft of joint resolution motion at their level.

Earlier, the members of task force from all these parties had decided to hand over the responsibility to finalize the draft to top leaders of their respective parties as differences continued to persist even after a series of negotiation.[break]

“Girijababu asked us to finalize the draft at the task force level citing his poor health,” said NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, who met Koirala on Tuesday morning. "The meeting of top leaders will be held only after task force finalizes the content of the joint resolution."

He said the date for the meeting of top leaders has not been set yet as task force members need to work further to sort out contentious issues in the joint resolution to be debated in the parliament.

Task force members engaged in negotation on Monday had said efforts are underway to prepare joint resolution motion in such a way that it would not be objectionable to any parties.
