Maoist Center, Unified Socialist and JSP top leaders meet before ruling alliance meeting

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The top leaders of three major political parties held discussions at Singha Durbar before the meeting of the ruling alliance.


Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal and leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Rajendra Shrestha, were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, they discussed the matters including endorsement of the US-funded Millennium Challenge Corporation compact agreement. Talking to the media following the meeting, Maoist Center Chairman Dahal said the meeting discussed finalizing the MCC issue, keeping the five-party ruling alliance intact.


A meeting of the ruling alliance has been called for 5PM today at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar. The discussion was held as the preparations for the meeting.


“We are primarily focused on how to keep the alliance intact and deal with the MCC simultaneously,” he shared. As he said, they expect to find a conclusion from the five-party meeting, adding, “We intend to find an agreement on other issues by keeping the alliance intact.”


Similarly, Unified Socialist’s Chair Nepal said he preferred to maintain silence on the matters at the moment as he felt no hurry to make any comments.
