KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Top leaders of major three parties on Wednesday asked student leaders to hold the elections of Free Student Unions on February 25 but suggested to adjust other election schedules.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal summoned student leaders and Tribhuvan University officials to discuss complications regarding the FSU elections with the leaders of major political parties. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli have also attended the meeting.
"The discussion was held for holding the FSU elections on February 14. During the meeting, leaders suggested the student leaders to shorten and adjust election procedures as some of the scheduled election programs are already missed in some campuses because of the protests of various student groups," said Ramesh Malla at the PM's Secretariat.
"Top leaders, however, suggest student leaders to hold the election on February 25," he added.
