kATHMANDU, Oct 24: Mahendra Prasad Yadav-led Tarai Madhesh Sadbhawana Party (TMSP), and Amar Yadav-led Madhesh Tarai Forum (MTF) have unveiled their election manifestos on Thursday.

Unveiling the manifesto, TMSP has demanded the recognition of official status to Hindi. Both small parties MTF and TMSP have proposed “Entire Tarai-Madhes a Single Province”.

The parties have said that the various ethnic groups and communities would not enjoy their absolute rights if Madhesh divided in the name of various provinces.

TMSP has proposed that the name of Tarai province should be “Madhesh Tharuhat Muslim Pradesh” in its 28-page manifesto. [break]

Likewise, MTF has made their 15-page manifesto public in Hindi. “Our party demands that Hindi should get recognition of official language in Nepal,” reads the manifesto of the party. The party further demanded that the school education should be provided in both Hindi and Nepali. The party has demanded the recognition of Hindi, an Indian language, a status of official language in a country where less than one percent of Nepalis speak it as mother tongue.

While describing about their policy of system of governance, these two small Madhesi parties have said they favor westminister model of governance, where prime minister enjoys executive power. “Our party favors parliamentary system of governance, where president would be ceremonial,” reads the manifesto of the two parties.

TMSP further said that their party would take initiative to establish universities in Janakpur, Birgunj, and Nepalgunj. “Our party would draft a clear policy that would pave the ways for establishing universities at each province, including a separate agricultural university, engineering and medical colleges,” said TMSP in its manifesto.

The party has also proposed the establishment of Muslim university in Tarai. “Our party would also take initiative to mainstream the Madrasa education. We believe that the Muslim commission should be formed to resolve the issues related to the Muslim community.”
