TMSP as well as MTF in their manifesto have said that they would stand for a single Tarai-Madhes province. TMSP has also sought recognition of Hindi as the official language of the Tarai. The parties have said that the ethnic communities and groups would not be able to enjoy their rights if Madhes is divided into more than one province. [break]
TMSP has also proposed naming the Tarai province “Madhes Tharuhat Muslim Pradesh” in its 28-page manifesto.
On the system of governance, the parties have stood in favor of Westminster model in which the executive power is vested in the prime minister. “Our party favors parliamentary system of governance in which the president is a nominal head of the state,” reads the manifesto made public by these two parties.
The parties have also said that they would take initiatives to establish universities in Janakpur, Birgunj, and Nepalgunj. “Our party would draft a clear policy that would pave the way for establishment of universities, including agricultural university, engineering and medical college,” said TMSP in its manifesto.
The party has also proposed establishing a Muslim university in Tarai. “Our party would also take initiatives to mainstream the Madrasa education. We believe that a Muslim Commission should be formed deal with the issues raised by the Muslim community.”
MTF has prepared its 15-page election manifesto in Hindi. “Hindi should get recognition as an official language of the Tarai,” reads the party´s manifesto. The party has said that both Nepali and Hindi be used as a language of instruction in schools and colleges.
