KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has appointed Govinda Tiwari, the senior most employee of Nepal Bangladesh (NB) Bank, to run day-to-day operations at NB, following the expiry today of a management contract awarded to a private management team led by Bashu Dev Ram Joshi.
According to a high-ranking official at NRB, the new management team at NB led by Tiwari has been asked to conduct the bank´s Annual General Meeting within 45 days and hand over management to an elected board of directors.
The official further said a three-member committee headed by Susil Ram Mathema, Executive Director of the Banks and Financial Institutions Regulation Department at NRB, will continue to maintain close supervision of NB. The committee was formed when the management of the bank was handed over to the team headed by Joshi in April 2007.
