TikTok users protest against govt decision to ban the app

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: TikTok users have expressed their displeasure against the government’s decision to ban the popular social media application.


TikTok users on Saturday gathered at Maitighar Mandala and protested against the government's decision. They argued that the government has curtailed their right to freedom of expression by banning TikTok.

They advised the government not to be afraid of TikTok users and demanded immediately lifting the ban on Tiktok.


On November 13, the government decided to ban the use of TikTok, which is being used as a social networking site in Nepal, stating that TikTok has had a negative impact on social harmony.


Similarly, The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has formed a technical committee under the leadership of Director Bijay Kumar Rai for the effective implementation of the government's decision to ban TikTok in the country.
