KATHMANDU, Sept. 1: The transport entrepreneurs have decided to open the sale of tickets for festive seasons from September 7.

The sale of the ticket for the passengers looking forward to going home using public vehicles for the long routes would start just two weeks before Dashain.

In the yesteryears, the sale of tickets for the public were opened a month ahead of the biggest festival.

A meeting of the officials of the Transport Management Department, Traffic Police, transport entrepreneurs and consumer rights group held Friday decided to open the sale of ticket.

However, the transport entrepreneurs were bargaining with the government to hike the fare for opening the sale of the ticket though the price of the petroleum products has slashed repeatedly.

During the talks, the transport entrepreneurs had demanded that provision be made to install the hood on the passenger-carrying buses.

The transport entrepreneurs agreed to begin the sale of the ticket after Director General of Department Rup Narayan Bhattarai agreed to make efforts to meet their demands.

Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division Sarbendra Khanal said that the Division would coordinate with the transport entrepreneurs to ensure safe journey of the passengers.

Likewise, general secretary of the Federation Saroj Sitaula urged the government and officials to unlock the problems entrepreneurs facing. RSS
