Three youths who chanted slogans against PM Dahal jailed

KATHMANDU, March 27: Three youths who were earlier arrested for protesting against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have been sent to prison.


Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Ghanshyam Upadhyay had set a bail of Rs 5,000 to each of them in the indecent behavior case on March 26.

Uddhav Basnet, 23, of Solukhumbu, Som Sharma,30, of Baglung and Biplav Khadka,18, of Bajhang were sent to the Central Jail after they failed to post the bail. District Police Complex Kathmandu DSP Niranjan Dutt Bhatt confirmed that they were sent to jail because they did not furnish the bail.


On March 7, they chanted slogans against Prime Minister Dahal at a program in Baneshwar, Kathmandu.


The police arrested them immediately. A video of the police trying to gag them while arresting them and putting them in a car was released, which was publicly criticized.
