Three policemen suspended over detainees’ escape

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Three policemen including Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) have been suspended following the recent escape of two detainees from police custody of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singhadurbar on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Three policemen including Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) have been suspended following the recent escape of two detainees from police custody of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singhadurbar on Saturday.


A probe team formed led by SP Ashok Singh of Kathmandu Range, decided to suspend duty officer ASI Bhim Bahadur Thapa and two constables Bodh Bahadur Majhi and Chandra Bahadur BK. The committee has started an investigation into the issue.

“If these suspended policemen are found to be involved in the incident then action would be taken against them as per the Police Act,” SP Singh said.


Meanwhile, three detainees among four who escaped from the police custody, have been taken back into custody. According to DSP Hobindra Bogati, Anil Thapa, Subba Lama and Suka Lal Waiba have been re-arrested. However, Madan Tamang is still at large.
