​​Three people who died of viral fever in Mugu confirmed to be infected with influenza virus

MUGU, Jan 31: It has been confirmed that three people who died in Soru Rural Municipality-6, Purumuru, which is in the northern part of Mugu district, were infected with influenza virus.

In Purumuru and Jima villages of Soru Village-6, three people died and 150 people fell sick due to a cold that spread one and a half weeks ago. Dr Kamal Dhungana of the District Hospital Mugu informed Republica that 135 of those who were infected showed symptoms of influenza in their samples tested at the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku.

Chief District Officer of Mugu, Topendra Bahadur KC, said that after the influenza infection was confirmed, a team including three doctors from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Ministry of Health and Population, a team from the World Health Organization and three doctors from the District Hospital Mugu were dispatched to the area for further investigation.

Keshar Bahadur Shahi, the vice chairman of Soru Rural Municipality, said that the rural municipality has mobilized health workers in the area. He said that the number of patients is decreasing in both villages now. Seventy-year olod Hari Bahadur Shahi, 75-year-old Kriti Chatyal and 24-year-old Kushum Dholi of Purumuru died of cold and viral fever a few days ago.
