KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Media Society Nepal, Radio Broadcasters Forum, Nepal and Advertising Association of Nepal have objected to the statement issued by Nepal Advertising Board on Thursday.

In a joint statement, the three media related organizations have said it is unfortunate that the Board issued a statement about stopping the advertisement right when the advertisement industry was slowly taking its pace after the pandemic even without informing stakeholders concerned.

"It is also a matter of grave concern that the media and the advertising industry, which have been hit hard by the pandemic, have been barred from doing business," said the joint statement.

They have maintained that it would not be justifiable to allow the production of goods or services, allow them to import,  sell and use products and raise billions of rupees from them while banning advertisements.

Similarly, they argue that the use of the product and its impact has nothing to do with the policy of not even advertising in the media. The statement also said that the policy of the Board to control advertisements would promote consumption of illegal, toxic and low-quality products.
