Three killed in petrol tanker mishap

DHADING, May 24: Three persons were killed at Darachwok VDC-3, Ghoptebhir  in Chitwan district when a petrol tanker skidded off the road and plunged some 250 meters down into the Trishuli Riverbank on Thursday night.



The deceased have been identified as tanker owner Gopal Singh Lama of Bsahamadhi, Makwanpur and two of his assistants Prakash Bista and Suresh Lama of Nibuwatar-6 of the district, according to Lok Bahadur Gurung, Inspector at area police office, Mugling, Chitwan.[break]



According to Gurung, police have recovered nothing from the accident site except a charred body of tanker owner Lama as the fire had reduced everything into ashes.



Gurung said that that the charred body of Lama has been sent to Bharatpur-based hospital for autopsy and an investigation into the accident is underway.

 

Police said that the ill-fated tanker (Na 4 Kha 3264) was heading to Kathamandu from Amlekhgunj carrying 20,000 liters of petrol while the accident occurred.
