Three held with idols in Jumla

JUMLA, Oct 6: Police have confiscated two statues with archaeological and historical importance stolen from Chandannath Temple at Khalanga, Jumla.

JUMLA, Oct 6: Police have confiscated two statues with archaeological and historical importance stolen from Chandannath Temple at Khalanga, Jumla.  



Police personnel deployed from Karnali Province Police Office in Surkhet and District Police Office, Jumla on Monday nabbed three persons along with two idols. The idols were stolen from the temple almost four years ago.

Those arrested are Sushil Bishta, 32, and Sudip Rawal, 23, from Chandannath-10, and Jayalal Thapa, 28, of Tatopani Rural Municipality-8, according to spokesperson for the Province Police Office, SSP Rajeshnath Bastola.  


Bastola added that the idols were kept hidden in a land plot of Bista at Bohoragaun.  


The idols were made up of silver like metal and further investigations from the police are underway, Spokesperson Bastola added.
