RAUTAHAT, Feb 27: Three quacks (fake doctors) working at Sagarmatha Terai Hospital Pvt Ltd, have been arrested in Rautahat. Among those arrested are two Indians and one Nepali national.

They were arrested by the police on February 13. The arrest was made public only on Monday.

According to Police Inspector Jhalak Prasad Sharma, Acting Information Officer of District Police Office, Rautahat, the incident was made public only after the investigation was completed.

The arrested individuals are identified as Hasin Akhtar, 45 and Mohammad Tabrej Alam, 27, of Bihar, India; and Kalam Mansori, 27, from Bhediahi tol in Yamunamai Rural Municipality-2, Rautahat.

The arrests were made following reports that these individuals, posing as qualified doctors, were administering hazardous treatments. A joint team from the District Administration Office and District Police Office Rautahat apprehended them after receiving a tip that they were performing surgeries, such as those for appendicitis, piles, and urethral issues, without proper qualifications.

Upon investigation, the team from the District Administration Office, Rautahat, visited the hospital to verify the educational qualifications of the purported doctors. Inspector Sharma noted that the three were arrested on February 13, and despite requests, they have yet to provide their qualification documents.

With this incident coming to light, the police suspect that fake doctors are operating in other hospitals in Rautahat as well.
